As guests indulged in food stations and cocktails, Dean Alan Balfour welcomed Georgia Tech's new president, G.P. "Bud" Peterson and wife Val Peterson; Representative Bob Smith who sponsored a State of Georgia House of Representatives Resolution commemorating the architecture centennial; sponsors and host committee members, among others.

Cecil Alexander was awarded the Philip Trammell Shutze Alumni Award. Balfour said, "His intelligence, his judgment, and his vision have always been fortified by courage, by a willingness to take risks, by a willingness to lead both the community and the profession in exploring the promise of a modern world."

The installation conceived by visiting professor Tristan Al-Haddad came alive as the sun set and the lights from the futuristic "chandeliers" enveloped the billowing fabric.

Guests gathered on the terrace to enjoy conversation and the fabulous fare.

To League of Decency's rendition of "Brick House," students led the runway show in their costumes for "Architecture.High.Performance" - a vision for architecture in the next one hundred years - led by associate professor George Johnston.

Many guests dared to show their talents in unique and superbly crafted accessories. Catherine Fitzgerald (Arch 2005) and Jason Lane (Mgt 2003) donned their own version of Tschumi follies (from Parc de la Villette in Paris).

Some guests were elegantly masked, including architecture instructor Michael Gamble and his wife Lee Ann Roth Gamble. Judges deliberated and awarded three iconic chairs donated by Design Within Reach, Herman Miller and Knoll.

Val and Bud Peterson congratulate students who performed "Periaktos" - another vision, this one led by associate professor Thanos Economou.

The installation continued inside with an inverted landscape of hanging fabric lighted by colorful projections; humming with music created by guests' movements as they explored the mysterious forest.
