EXCHANGE CAPABILITIES

TRANSLATOR INTERCHANGEABILITY MATRIX

CIS/2 Translator Interchange Capability

The table shown below is the CIS/2 translator entity list. Each system translator is listed as a row in the entity list table. There are three domain models supported in the CIS/2, analytical model, design model and manufacturing model. A translator may be able to export or import multiple domain models. Such capability is defined in a separate column. Check marks in the diagram give an list of exchangeable entities.

Each translator has a list of importable and exportable CIS/2 entities. A functional workflow between two applications only exists for the the intersection of the exporting and importing translator. Entities may be lost if the receiving translator does not recognize the exported CIS/2 entities. Each CIS/2 entity that cannot be processed through a receiving translator must be identified by writing it out to a import log file (see CIS/2 LPM500 V.5, p.135, "detail log file").

CIS/2 Translator Interchange Matrix

The table shown below is the CIS/2 translator interchange matrix. Each row and column identifies a system with an implemented CIS/2 translator that imports(column) or exports(row) a CIS/2 instance file (ISO-10303-21 generic file) An intersection cell represents a potential workflow between two translators where an exported file can be received by an importing translator. Each application has an entity list for the entities it imports and exports, as provided within the capability file submitted by developers. Each cross mark links to an entity list that represents the exchangeable information between the output and input translators. There may be no intersection between two CIS/2 translator regard to the domain specific of a translator, for instance a pure structural analysis application may not concern about the erecting information, in this case, the intersected information is void and no X is shown.
