Before accessing any GIT Information Technology resource and/or connecting to any campus network, the following minimum requirements must be met. Any computer connecting to a campus technology resource needs to have all of the following security tools installed. In addition, each user should be familiar with the campus Network Usage Policy.
Antivirus
Download McAfee Antivirus for your personal owned computer at OIT website: http://www.oit.gatech.edu/software/overview.cfm
AntiSpyware
Computers managed by the College of Architecture are currently using Microsoft Beta Antispyware product – Windows Defender Beta 2 - Link to Windows Defender Download
OIT also provides access to a free AntiSpyware download - Webroot Spy Sweeper 5.0.7. This product can be access through OIT’s software portal: https://software.oit.gatech.edu and can be installed on personal computers provided you are a employee or student of Georgia Tech.
Firewall
A firewall application must to be installed and active on any GIT owned computer and it is strongly recommended that any personal computer connecting to GIT network resources be protected with a firewall application. All CoA managed systems run Windows XP Firewall available with Service Pack 2. OIT also provides access to a free Firewall download - RealSecure Desktop at https://software.oit.gatech.edu
