Printing

Printing is available for Faculty, Staff and students taking CoA classes. Printing is paid for using a print quota system that deducts from your quota for each print made. Each semester a $5 credit is applied to your quota to cover mistakes the printer makes.

Effective 7/23/2007, The College of Architecture will no longer accept cash or checks as payment for printing services. Payments will only be accepted through your BuzzCard.  Read more about using your BuzzCard....

You may add money to your print quota through the BuzzCard system.

At the present time, you need to bring your BuzzCard to room 359a, West Architecture to pay for prints.

• Printing is available only on 20# paper that is provided by the CoA. Printing on your own paper is prohibited.
• To install a printer: Click Start, select Run, enter the address \\riptide.coa.ad.gatech.edu , hit Enter, and then double-click a printer to install it.
• To set a commonly used printer as the default, open your Printers & Faxes folder from the Start Menu, right-click the printer and select Set as Default
• Most printers can do 11x17 prints and double-sided printing. Check the Printer Properties.
• Black and White Prints: 8¢ per side
• Color Prints: 25¢ per side

Plotting

Plotting or oversize printing is available for a fee in Room 359a. The plotters, affectionately known as Cheech and Chong, are HP Designjet 4000s. They will plot on 36" and 42" paper.

To install a plotter : Click Start, select Run, enter the address \\riptide.coa.ad.gatech.edu , hit Enter, and then double-click a printer to install it.

Prices for 36" paper are per linear foot and vary for each media:

• Regular Bond (20#) > $3.00 per linear foot
• Heavy Bond (40#) > $5.00 per linear foot
• Vellum (20#) > $5.00 per linear foot
• Mylar (Matte Film)> $7.00 per linear foot
• SemiGloss (45#) > $7.00 per linear foot

Prices for 42 " paper are per linear foot and vary for each media:

• Regular Bond (20#) > $4.00 per linear foot
• Heavy Bond (40#) > $6.00 per linear foot
• Vellum (20#) > $6.00 per linear foot
• Mylar (Matte Film)> $8.00 per linear foot
• SemiGloss (45#) > $8.00 per linear foot

In order to plot you must fill out a Plot Request Form (found in room 359A) and complete payment (also in room 359A) before your plot can be completed. Please ask for assistance if you’ve never plotted before as students must pay for all plots sent in error.
