CoA Faculty and Staff Email

CoA Email

Employees of the College of Architecture (CoA) are issued a college email account using the naming convention firstname.lastname@coa.gatech.edu. All official college and
institute communications will be sent to the official email address.
The official CoA email address will be posted in the Georgia Tech campus directory.

The College of Architecture email system runs on
Microsoft Exchange and is managed by the college’s IT department.
Only faculty and staff have CoA email accounts. This email can be accessed from the following website: http://mail.coa.gatech.edu

College of Architecture students are not issued CoA email accounts.
CoA students must use the email account assigned by the university.

CoA Email Forwarding

The College of Architecture will not forward employee email to an external mail service such as gmail or hotmail. CoA email can be forwarded to the campus email system, GT Spectrum. Spectrum can forward your email to an external mail service, you can access

No actual mailbox is created on the COA email server. Users forwarding their email will need to check their Spectrum email account for any @coa.gatech.edu communications.

The Spectrum email account does not offer calendaring and collaboration functionality provided by the CoA mail system. Further information about using GT Spectrum email

CoA Email Alias

Alias email addresses can be associated with an employee’s official CoA email account (example: official = james.smith@coa.gatech.edu and alias= jim.smith@coa.gatech.edu or jsmith@coa.gatech.edu). You may contact helpdesk@coa.gatech.edu and request 2 additional alias addresses.

Checking your CoA Email

All CoA mail stores have a 5 gigabytes quota. The CoA Exchange mail system supports IMAP, and MAPI (Microsoft Outlook) connectivity and the enhanced secure web mail client: http://www.mail.gatech.edu/

GT Email

In addition to the College of Architecture email account, employees of Georgia Institute of Technology (GIT) are provided an alternative email account managed by the Georgia Tech Office of Information Technology (OIT) referred to as “Spectrum.”

All GIT employees and students are issued a Spectrum email account and the naming convention is GTid@mail.gatech.edu. Spectrum mail is the official email delivery location for students. Students are required to check this email account regularly. Any email sent to College of Architecture employees via Spectrum is automatically forwarded to the employee’s CoA email account.

GT Email Alias

Each person at Georgia Tech is allowed one email alias ending in “@gatech.edu”. This email alias is not another email account, but instead an email address that will deliver email to one of your existing email addresses.
