The use of the college buildings is limited to instruction, research, and studio work as designated by instructors. This may also include professional and community-related activities that are prior approved by the College or the Institute.
In addition, student activities related to associations, organizations and clubs recognized by the Institute are permitted if such activities are approved by the college administration and/or the Institute and do not interfere with the normal activities of the college.
Students should use their studio space for all work related to the design curriculum as assigned by their individual professors. In the instances that work extends into the morning hours and students feel it necessary to sleep, they should cause as little disturbance as possible. This includes limiting sleeping areas to those not in public view, such as any jury or common areas. Also, as a professional courtesy, sleeping should not occur during business hours. Students are not allowed to bring any furniture that is not related to design work (i.e., beds, cots, sofa-beds and very large couches).
The roof terrace over the bridge is not available to any activity in order to protect the roof and to avoid water damage to the Old Architecture Building. The Old Architecture Building has ledge areas on the first, second and third floors adjacent to the students. For obvious safety reasons, under no circumstances are students, faculty or staff to have access to these ledge areas and persons should not be occupying these areas. These areas have tile which is very slippery when wet and the areas were not designed for access.
