Alan Balfour Alan Balfour, Dean and Professor - Alan Balfour was appointed Dean of the College of Architecture in 2008. Most recently dean of the School of Architecture at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York, Balfour was previously the director of the Architecture Program at Georgia Tech from 1977 to 1987. Steven French Steven P. French, PhD, FAICP, Professor and Associate Dean for Research - Professor French joined Georgia Tech in 1992 as the Director of the City Planning Program and served in that position through 1999. He is the David M. McKenney Professor of Sustainability, Energy, and Environment, and director of the Center for Geographic Information Systems. He received his PhD from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1980. View full profile.
Eric Trevena Eric Trevena - Assistant Dean for Administration and Finance.  Eric Trevena oversees all administrative and financial affairs for the college. He has been at Georgia Tech since 1987 and has served in a variety of roles, including, most recently, the Director of Administration and Finance for the Office of the Provost. Jim Budd, Professor and Chair of the School of Industrial Design
Jim Budd brings 15 years of academic and research leadership in human-centered, interactive product design, as well as two decades of corporate design experience to the School of Industrial Design. Most recently, he was associate professor of industrial and interaction design at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, where he headed the Wearables and Interactive Products Lab. George B. Johnston, PhD, Professor and Chair of the School of Architecture
George Johnston joined the Architecture Program in 1984. Johnston previously held positions of associate director and interim director of the Architecture Program, and currently teaches courses in architectural design and in the history and theory of architectural practice. Bruce Stiftel, FAICP, PhD, Professor and Chair of the School of City & Regional Planning
Bruce Stiftel joined the City & Regional Planning Program as director in 2008. He is a member of the Planning Accreditation Board, and review editor of the journal Planning Theory. Subhro Guhathakurta joined GeorgiaTech in 2011. He was previously Associate Director of the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning at Arizona State University (ASU) and among the founding faculty members of ASU’s School of Sustainability. Catherine L. Ross, Director of the Center for Quality Growth and Regional Development (CQGRD) and Harry West Professor
Catherine Ross joined the City and Regional Planning Program in 1977.  She earned her Master of Regional Planning Degree and the PhD in City and Regional Planning from Cornell University in 1979.  She completed post-doctoral studies at the University of California, Berkeley and was appointed full Professor in 1990.  Prior to her current position, she organized and served as the first Executive Director of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA).
