Winning energy home a hot topic among local practitioners
Atlanta (February 15, 2008) — The Committee on the Environment [COTE] of the American Institute of Architects Atlanta Chapter selected the Georgia Tech Solar Decathlon House to be included in a Green Design Showcase presented at the 2008 Greenprints Conference in Atlanta March 13 and 14, 2008.
Within the context of the Greenprints Conference, the Solar Decathlon House will be used as an example to explore better ways to link planning, architecture, construction and the use of natural resources.

The Green Design Showcase will illustrate regional efforts to integrate environmentally responsible design methods and materials, emphasizing:
SITE preserving water and eco-system quality
ENERGY conserving and creating
WASTE limiting during construction and/or occupation
MATERIALS recycling, re-using, and/or limiting
INDOOR ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY protecting and/or enhancing
LIVABLE COMMUNITIES enhancing connections within communities
INTEGRATION integrating green design in the design process
AIA Atlanta/COTE promotes environmental leadership among architects; seeks to make environmental considerations and sustainable design integral to the practice of architecture.
