The IMAGINE (Interactive Media Architecture Group in Education) Lab is composed of a group of researchers and students with a mission of serving the Architecture/Engineering/Construction (AEC) community by: providing exemplary applications of cutting edge, architectural visualization technologies; and, preparing students in the use of these technologies. IMAGINE realizes the benefits and potential of integrating research and education. The staff members of the IMAGINE Lab offer courses in architectural visualization and on-line environments. Student members are actively involved in applied, sponsored projects that are related to the lab's research interests. Below you will find links to some of the work that the IMAGINE Lab has done.
The Georgia Aquarium project began as a series of 2D images in slideshow format but grew to into several 3D flythroughs of the site. Working from CAD data provided by the architects as well as numerous site visits to collect reference imagery the Imagine Lab created a total of 8 animations. These included the 5 galleries, the event room, an exterior flythrough, and an atrium flythrough. Additionally, the lab's resident musician composed original music for each animation.
The Central Atlanta Progress group contacted the IMAGINE Lab and requested assistance in their bid for the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Atlanta. The IMAGINE Lab responded by created a visualization of the proposed structure, located near Centennial Olympic Park. Like the Georgia Aquarium, the exterior animation shows the structure within the greater context of downtown Atlanta. Here's the Atlanta bid for the NASCAR Hall of Fame website.
