Jazz Ensembles

The Georgia Tech Jazz Ensembles (I and II) and Jazz Combos explore concert jazz works from the late 1920's through the present day, including works by such classic composers as Duke Ellington and Stan Kenton, and contemporary artists Pat Metheny and others.

The Directors, Ron Mendola and studio and jazz saxophone artist Sam Skelton, strive to respond to student interest in organizing small and large ensemble opportunities each semester.  Ensemble members develop skills in ensemble playing and in the art and techniques of improvisation through coaching and rehearsal.

Participants record annually in studio sessions and in live concerts. Recent master classes include Maynard Ferguson and Arturo Sandoval.

Semester dues are $15.

Jazz Ensemble I and II meet 3:05 pm - 4:00 pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
