Donny Allen

Donny Allen, a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music and the Assistant Director of Bands at the Georgia Institute of Technology.  He serves as Assistant Director for the Yellow Jacket Marching Band, Conductor of the Georgia Tech Symphonic Band, and Assistant Director for the Basketball Pep Bands.  His duties also include drill design for the Marching Band, chamber ensemble coaching and teaching courses in music history.  He is presently a candidate for the Doctorate in Musical Arts in conducting at the University of Memphis.  Mr. Allen earned his Bachelor's in Music Education and Master's in Instrumental Conducting from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.

Mr. Allen has served as Assistant Director of the University of Memphis marching band.  Mr. Allen served in the U.S. Army as principal horn for the bands at Ft. Gordon, GA and Ft. Benning, GA. His experience also includes serving at East Carolina University, where he was Director of the Concert Band and Basketball Band.  Mr. Allen has taught band in the public schools at West Craven High School in Vanceboro, NC.  He presently serves on the brass staff of the Bluecoats drum and bugle corps from Canton, OH. Mr. Allen is a member of CBDNA, The International Horn Society, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and GMEA, as well as an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma.
