The Georgia Tech Marching Band
The Yellow Jacket Marching Band and the Georgia Tech Pep Bands are elements of the Georgia Tech Band Program. Since the first instrumental group was organized in 1908, the band program has fulfilled two primary goals: to represent the Institute and to provide a musical outlet for Tech students. Every year the Marching Band and Pep Band travel to out-of-state events, including the ACC Tournament, NCAA Tournament, football games, and bowl appearances. The Georgia Tech Athletic Association finances these trips and generously supports the Athletic and Pep Bands throughout the year.
The Georgia Tech Marching Band is comprised of over 350 students representing every college and major on campus. It is one of the most visible musical organizations at Georgia Tech performing at football games and special events during the year. Tryouts for the auxiliary units are held each spring and include flagline and majorettes. There is a band camp preparation the week before fall classes begin.
There are pep bands for the men’s basketball team, the women's basketball team, and the volleyball team. Students in these groups work hard to entertain the fans at games and lead our teams to victory. The basketball pep bands attend all home games, local tournaments, post-season tournaments, and the ACC tournament. The volleyball pep band cheers on the team at many of the home volleyball matches throughout the fall.
