GT BANDS CENTENNIAL
The Georgia Tech Music Department strives
to transform traditional academic and conservatory instruction and
performance to an environment that combines innovative research and
technology with the art of music. The Department aspires to create
interdisciplinary academic programs integrating creative
self-expression, scientific knowledge, and technical expertise,
enriching the intellectual and cultural life of the campus, community,
and profession. Over 1100 Tech students will sing, play or study music each semester in 2006-2007. They'll be from every major on campus, and from many nations around the world. Some will take just one course, enjoying the unique experience of sharing music with other human beings. Some will thirst for even more, and will pursue a Music Certificate or Music Minor.

Sonic Generator: Georgia Tech's ensemble in residence, jointly organized by the Music Department and the GVU Center. Sonic Generator presents three concerts each year that explore the ways in which technology is reshaping contemporary musical composition, performance, and listening. The six members are among the most talented chamber musicians in Atlanta; many of them are members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Georgia Tech faculty and students work closely with the ensemble to develop and produce the technology for each performance. http://www.sonicgenerator.gatech.edu
