The intention of this course is to introduce students to princlipes of 3D computer visualization and animation. Students learn basic concepts on the example of Autodesk VIZ 2006. Lighting, materials, texture mapping, and virtual cameras are introduced incrementally as students work on the tutorials. Students get an exposure to the complex and procedural materials, basic animation techniques and scene composition. Rendering techniques, editing and display functions are introduced in a process of modeling architectural interiors and exteriors. The use of parametric objects such as walls, doors, windows, etc., linkages to an external geometry and CAD files as well as the export of models to CAD and 3D web viewable formats are discussed.
