Instructor, Industrial Design Program, Georgia Tech
Tim Purdy is a senior lecturer in the Industrial Design Program. He has been teaching since 1996 and has taught a variety of courses including studio, material/processes, and interface design. He is currently teaching the Introduction to 2D and 3D Computing as well as Modeling and Rendering with Alias Studio. He is a certified instructor for Alias Studio. Tim has helped the ID program develop a research program called the “CoLab”. This was an interdisciplinary program between the ID and Management program that included graduate students who worked on industry projects. Tim also holds a design patent with the Coca-Cola Company for the design of a universal beverage stand. Tim Purdy has more then 20 years of experience helping companies find unique and innovative solutions to their technology needs. This experience includes Director and Flash programming, computer rendering and modeling, and animation for architectural, educational and marketing videos. Tim has worked in the corporate environment for a Fortune 100 company, and now as the President of his own design service company. Tim received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design, Master of Science in Management and Master of Science in Industrial Design from Georgia Institute of Technology. He also earned a Certificate in Management of Technology while a graduate student. From a personal interest in theology, he earned a Master of Theological Studies from Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL.
