The Master of Architecture is the professional program in architecture leading to the NAAB-accredited Master of Architecture Degree. Other Master’s Degrees offered in the College of Architecture include the Master of Industrial Design and the Master of City and Regional Planning.
Master of Science Programs are post-professional programs oriented toward advanced practice and research. The Master of Science with a major in Architecture offers concentrations in: Architecture/Engineering/Construction Integration; Classical Design; Digital Design and Fabrication; Geographic Information Systems; Health and Design; High Performance Buildings; and Urban Design. The college also offers Masters of Science with a major in Building Construction and Integrated Facility Management and a major in Music Technology.

The following materials are required: 1) Application; 2) Application Fee; 3) Three letters of recommendation; 4) Statement of Purpose; 5) two official copies of the transcript from each college attended since high school; 6) official scores of the Graduate Record Examination (G.R.E.).
If you are applying to the Master of Architecture Professional Program; the Master of Science (major in Architecture) with a concentration in Urban Design; or the Master of Industrial Design, your portfolio must be mailed directly to the Graduate Admissions Coordinator, Georgia Tech College of Architecture, 247 Fourth St NW, Atlanta GA 30332-0155. Information pertaining to the portfolio requirements can be found on the graduate admissions web page. All other materials should be submitted directly to the Graduate Admissions Office.
If you are a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident and you wish to claim Georgia Residence for tuition purposes, you must complete the Application for Georgia Residence Status form (included with the on-line application).
In addition to the above requirements, international students are required to submit official scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), and proof of financial support for the first year of study.
All application materials must be submitted along with the $50.00 filing fee not before October 15 but not later than January 15 in the year preceding enrollment.
There are no set minimums for the GRE test, but the average among our students is relatively high. Admission to post-professional study is competitive and based upon merit as evidenced in the applicant’s previous academic performance, GRE and/or TOEFL scores, portfolio, and other supporting documentation.
Post-Professional Master of Science Programs in the College of Architecture require a minimum TOEFL score of 600 (paper-based) , 250 (computer-based), or 100 (internet-based). This requirement exceeds that of the Institute.
Applicants to the Post Professional MS Program are reviewed and admitted for fall admission. In general, no applications are considered for spring admission.
Applicants from the previous academic year wishing to reapply should submit a new portfolio (if applicable) along with a letter of intent for reapplication to the Graduate Admissions Coordinator. If you defer for more than one year, you must submit a new complete application online at the Georgia Tech Graduate Admissions website.
Notification of admissions decisions is mailed by March 1.
Master of Science Programs typically do not offer assistantships or administrative positions to its students. However, you can visit the Georgia Tech Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid for more resources for financing your degree.
