CP6640 - Applied Real Estate Methods

Course Description

The course if formulated based on the premise that a lecture format is not the most effective way to teach real estate development. Consequently, over half of the class meetings will be devoted to guest speakers from various real estate fields, reviews of case studies and research assignments, field trips and work sessions for the group projects. The Atlanta real estate market will serve as the laboratory for student application of development methods. The five primary goals of this course are:

  • to thoroughly understand the basic steps involved in the real estate development process

  • to develop and practice a simple problem-solving technique

  • to learn market research skills and to understand how this informs the development process

  • to provide firsthand exposure to real estate developers and other industry participants
