Our final “official” gathering will be a farewell luncheon with former and current faculty as the honored guests. Here is your chance to “toast” or “roast” your favorite faculty members for all those edits, spreadsheets, “Inc.,” late nights at school, rewrites, award winning papers/projects, and field work. We’ll also have opportunities for attendees to organize “class reunions” for the remainder of the weekend.

Walking Tours 2:45 pm – until , leaving from Sheraton Colony Square Hotel

You can choose from three guided walking tours: The Midtown, the Downtown, or the Historic Preservation Downtown tours. All tours will leave from the Sheraton Colony Square Hotel at 2:45 p.m.

Midtown’s phenomenal growth has out paced many goals of its master plan Blueprint Midtown, evident by the addition of 6.5 million square feet of office space, and 5,800 residential units in just 6-years. Kick it up and explore the district, while learning how Midtown Alliance engaged the community to define a vision and took dramatic steps toward implementation of the plan. The tour visits some of the area’s unique developments, both old and new, that represent the evolution of this dynamic urban neighborhood. The Midtown guided walking tour will be led by representatives from Midtown Alliance.

The Downtown guided walking tour will showcase recent planning initiatives, development projects and improvements that characterize the resurgence of Downtown as the economic, civic, cultural and residential heart of the Atlanta region. The tour will visit sites as varied as new high-rise residential buildings, state-of-the-art classroom facilities, improved streetscape corridors and the planned Multimodal Passenger Terminal and Georgia Aquarium locations. Learn how these projects evolved and are evolving from ideas, plans and drawings into bricks and mortar. The Downtown guided walking tour will be led by representatives from Central Atlanta Progress.

Join the Historic Preservation Downtown tour to experience Atlanta’s earliest high-rise district, winding through interiors of several of Atlanta’s landmark structures. You’ll see how Atlanta’s downtown architecture developed from Victorian period styles to Art Deco to modern, and learn about the businessmen, architects, and prominent families who created the city’s early commercial center. Note: You will be riding MARTA to the downtown area so you will need to have change for the fare. The current fare is $1.75 one way. The Historic Preservation Downtown tour will be led by Jessica Lavandier from Fulton County's Department of Environment and Community Development and Atlanta Preservation Center volunteer tour guide.
