Frequently Asked Questions - Continuing Education

Why should I consider the CRC for continuing education?
The Construction Resource Center provides access to the vast intellectual resources at Georgia Tech. Faculty affiliated with our Center are leading experts in their respective fields and continue to be engaged in cutting edge research and training opportunities. This ensures that your course will be taught by someone with the academic knowledge, professional knowledge to provide your organization with the most-current and up-to-date education in the A/E/C industry. In addition, some of our courses may quality your employees for CEUs.

Do you offer regularly scheduled continuing education classes?
At this time, we do not offer courses regularly throughout the semester. Instead, we customize our courses to fit the educational needs of those interested. Most often, companies contact us to organize one- to two-day workshops on various topics for medium to large groups of employees.

What kinds of courses do you offer?
We offer a number of courses in the areas of Construction Management & Marketing, Project Management & Finance, Facility Management, and Information Technology. Our courses are geared to provide basic introduction, intermediate training or advanced education in a number of topics. Some of our specific course titles include: construction law; risk management; value engineering; project time management; operations and management; benchmarking; computers for contractors; and new trends in technology.

Where do you offer courses?
We are happy to accommodate your specific needs and are willing to send our faculty to your organization for personalized instruction, or arrange for a meeting space on Georgia Tech’s campus. Our conference room is also available for small groups.

What about online instruction?
The CRC is working collaboratively with the Building Construction Program to offer a number of courses in a distance education format. Once our graduate programs are available via the Internet, we will be able to offer learning “modules” on various topics for those who may be interested in a specific subject, such as project management or facilities operation. This format will allow individuals to learn at their own pace and within the comforts of their home or office.  Please check our website for future information.

What is the cost?
Costs vary, depending on the length of program and the number of expected participants. Once we receive a brief description of your specific needs, we will be happy to provide you with an estimate for the cost.

How can I schedule a class or receive more information?
Contact CRC Research Coordinator Lisa Borello at 404.894.2069 or send an e-mail to lisa.borello@coa.gatech.edu.

Please note that there is not a published schedule of classes. Classes are only offered on a contract basis.
