CGIS Annex Siva

RAMACHANDRAMURTHY (SIVA) SIVAKUMAR, M.S., M.S., GISP

Rama Sivakumar (Siva) is a Research Engineer at the Center for Geographic Information Systems, Georgia Institute of Technology. He has more than ten years of comprehensive experience in GIS and Information Technology. His expertise include web based GIS, application design and development, network management, database management, and system administration. He is a member of the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI) and serve on its oversight committee. He is also member of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) and its Georgia Chapter. He is a volunteer with GISCorps, a volunteer based group that provide GIS services to underprivileged communities.

During the past ten years at CGIS Mr. Sivakumar was involved in a number of projects. Recent project include developing an enterprise GIS plan for the City of Albany, Georgia. He has also helped in City of Atlanta’s Enterprise GIS implementation efforts. He played a vital role in the design and development of Georgia GIS Data Clearinghouse, a spatial data repository for the State of Georgia. He contributed significantly in the production of second generation Color Infrared (CIR) Digital Ortho Photos for Georgia. He implemented a National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) gateway node for Georgia. He developed an Internet based GIS Map Server portal for National Guard Bureau Counter Drug Applications. He developed an Internet based High-Speed Telecommunications Provider Atlas for Georgia. He was a team member in the Evaluation of Geographic Information System Capabilities at the Savannah River Site. He has provided GIS research support for various ongoing projects sponsored by National Center for Earthquake Engineering Research (NCCER), National Science Foundation (NSF), and Mid America Earthquake Center (MAEC) and other local sponsors.

Mr. Sivakumar is an experienced system administrator. He administers servers, workstations, network, databases, and other hardware and software resources for the Center for Geographic Information Systems. He was a ESRI Certified Instructor and teaches continuing education training courses in GIS technologies at regular intervals. He is regular participant in local professional activities and technology showcases.

Mr. Sivakumar holds a Masters of Science degree with a GIS specialization from Georgia Institute of Technology. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Mississippi. His Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree is from University of Madras in India.
