BC Graduate Program: Fall deadline approaching

The Building Construction (BC) graduate program is now accepting applications for the fall semester. The deadline for U.S. applicants is June 1. The mater’s degree offers three distinct tracks in Integrated Project Delivery Systems, Facility Management and Residential Construction Development.

BC Professor wins Best Paper Award
April 10
Dr. Ioannis Brilakis, Assistant Professor in Building Construction and Civil and Environmental Engineering, and his Ph.D. student Zhenhua Zhu, received the Best Paper Award of the 2009 ASCE Construction Research Congress (CRC). CRC is the largest premiere construction conference in the U.S., and was held April 4-7 in Seattle, WA.

BC Student Receives Prestigious Research Award
March 31
BC Student Shannon Barnes has been selected by the College of Architecture as this year’s Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher in the college. Ms. Barnes’ will present her research entitled “BIM-Enabled Integrated Optimization Tool for LEED Decisions” at the Georgia Tech Undergraduate Research Spring Symposium on April 1, 2009. She will be presented with the award, which includes a monetary stipend and certificate at the reception following the symposium.

Information Sessions About NSF Funding For Graduate Students
June 9
The National Science Foundation is increasing its funding opportunities for young researchers. Georgia Tech has three NSF Graduate Research Fellowship information sessions scheduled to assist students as they plan for their November applications. Session will include information from an NSF reviewer as well as from Dr. Karen Adams from the Fellowship Program.
