Marko Carlos Tardio teaches design studio at Ga Tech and runs a professional design - build practice in Atlanta. The studio traverses a range of topics to include the mapping and understanding of contextual conditions. Specific uses and history of architectural tools, the role of the 'solar diagram' in architectural practice and form giving. Good manners as key component of practice. He has studied the history of the city of Atlanta and built a practice, through the insertion of contemporary solutions into the urban fabric. Six houses, well known and loved by the public form a thesis in operations within zoning and physical constraints of the cities peculiar environments created by transportation infrastructure, urban forests, traditional, houses, fragmented lots, and speculative development. Much of the work investigates the relationship between labor and materials, the culture of labor and construction. The experience has resulted in a broad speculation of building methods and specifications.
He has worked in several national awards winning projects, in his professional practice with Scogin Ellam and Bray Architects His work with them has been published in GA Architecture, Progressive Architecture, etc. He has won the well known, graduate level, SGF design competition, at Georgia Tech.
He received and Bachelor in Economics with emphasis in Art History at Emory University, and a masters in Architecture at Georgia Institute of Technology. Lectured on his work at the University of Iowa, University of Florida, Clemson, and Georgia Tech.
