Daniel Baerlecken is Visiting Assistant Professor at Georgia Institute of Technology. He teaches digital design and fabrication. His research focuses on the exploration of the algorithmic potential of computing and of the resulting innovative architectural forms.

Daniel Baerlecken founded BFR LAB, office for research, architecture and design, with Matthias Frei and Judith Reitz in Cologne, Germany in 2005. BFR LAB is an architectural firm that has produced a variety of projects ranging from interior design over residential projects to large-scale urban planning. Currently BFR LAB is working on a villa in Switzerland and diverse interior design projects in Germany and Switzerland as well as international design competitions.

He is a registered architect at the Chamber of Architects Nordrhein-Westpfahlia, Germany. He graduated with honors in a collaboration of the Technical University RWTH Aachen in Germany and of the University of Applied Arts, master class Zaha Hadid, in Vienna. Prior to his private practice, he worked as design and project architect at Zaha Hadid Architects in London. Since 2006 he has been teaching digital design at the Technical University RWTH Aachen and Technical University Braunschweig, two of Germany’s leading universities.
