Urban Design Workshop

Since 1977, the Architecture Program has operated an urban design workshop which offers students course credit or research involvement in contemporary planning and urban development issues at multiple scales throughout the city of Atlanta and metropolitan region.

M.Arch./M.C.R.P. Dual Degree Program

The joint Master of Architecture and Master of City & Regional Planning Program seeks to educate those who wish to engage directly in the process of city building. The Program is intended to meet the needs of planning agencies, consultants, institutions, and architectural firms for graduates who can deal competently with the design complexities of urban areas. The curriculum is comprised of the core requirements for each of the two professional programs and, in addition, a set of joint requirements that focus upon urban design as the common ground linking the theory and practice of the two disciplines.

Candidates for this program are limited to students who hold a pre-professional degree in architecture from an accredited program or who hold a first degree in some discipline other than architecture but who have completed the first three semesters of the M.Arch. I Program at Georgia Tech. Candidates for the program must have demonstrated superior ability in design. The program consists of a minimum of 93 semester hours of coursework. Prior to undertaking the joint-degree program, students must be accepted for admittance to both participating programs. Further information is available from either of the program offices of Architecture or City Planning.

Professional Development Courses

The Architecture Program participates in a College-wide continuing education program, presenting a wide range of intensive courses and workshops for Georgia Tech graduates and other design professionals. Topics include site planning, professional practice, computer skills, structures and preparation courses for taking the professional licensing examination.
