The PlaceMaking Group of Parsons Brinckerhoff is seeking a talented, highly qualified Urban Designer with 3-7 years experience for their Baltimore/Washington D.C.office. The prospective candidate will be working in an exciting and diverse environment and she/he must be able to think creatively, be a self-starter, and juggle concurrent projects. Excellent design, graphics, and computer skills are required along with strong communications and presentation skills. Ability to draw by hand and produce polished freehand sketches for presentations is highly desired.
Candidate will be responsible for technical production of innovative urban design for transit-oriented development, sustainable development, and smart growth projects, as well as the full range of streetscape, corridor, downtown, neighborhood, waterfront, and revitalization planning projects for both the public and private sectors. Must have the ability to make presentations, undertake public outreach, and play an active roll in the development of new work opportunities. Facility with MS Office, GIS, Illustrator, InDesign/Pagemaker, PowerPoint, PhotoShop, and Sketchup desired. Experience with AutoCAD a plus.
Basic Qualifications: Graduate degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Urban Design or City Planning with 3 to 7 years of progressively more responsible professional experience. Degrees in both planning and a design disciplines are highly desired. Additional Requirements: Experience working with community processes; knowledge of municipal regulatory processes; and experience with economic/community development. Professional registration in architecture and landscape architecture, or planning certification a plus.
