Career Discovery 2009: June 8-19

2009 Registration is NOW CLOSEDStudents building models in class

The 2009 Career Discovery Program in Architecture will be held on weekdays June 8-19 on the Georgia Tech campus.  This two-week summer program offers high school juniors and seniors, who are considering careers in architecture, the opportunity to explore principles of design and the practice of architecture with faculty members and professional architects.  The Professor Charles Rudolph has developed a broad and engaging curriculum that reflects his passion for and knowledge of architecture and his love of teaching.

The program of study includes drawing exercises, model-building projects, and field trips that provide the opportunity to see design and construction professionals in action.

Career Discover also offers one-on-one guidance to help participants make decisions about applying to an architecture program.  The drawings and documents produced during the Career Discovery classes also can be included in the participants’ college admission portfolios.

The College of Architecture partners with Georgia Tech’s Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics & Computing (CEISMC) to offer this summer enrichment program.

The cost of the two-week program will be $600.00 plus a non-refundable application fee of $15.00.  Each student will receive two-weeks of programming, a t-shirt, an $8.00 credit for lunch each day at the Georgia Tech student center, and constant supervision.  This year we will be offering a limited number of need-based scholarships due to the generosity of the Alcoa Foundation.

To register for the Career Discovery Program, you must apply through CEISMC.  Please visit their website to download an application. www.ceismc.gatech.edu/summercamps/high.html
